System participation and data reporting – this is how it works
You have registered with the LUCID Packaging Register because you are placing packaging filled with goods that is subject to system participation on the German market (retail, grouped or shipment packaging). Then this page is for you. It outlines the steps you need to take to ensure compliance with the law.
Companies that place packaged goods on the German market for the first time bear financial producer responsibility for their packaging's recycling by participating that packaging in a system. System operators ensure that packaging waste is collected, sorted and recycled across Germany, and that recycling quality is as high as possible.
That is why a system participation agreement with a system operator is mandatory. Once you have entered into this agreement, you have to report your packaging volumes to the LUCID Packaging Register (data reporting).
Concluding a system participation agreement
Calculate packaging volumes for your retail, grouped or shipment packaging by material type (e.g. glass, plastics, paper/paperboard/cardboard, etc.).
Conclude an agreement with one or more system operator(s). You can find a list of system operators here.
Report your packaging volumes to the system when concluding the agreement.

Reporting packaging volumes (data reporting)
When and how often you have to report your packaging volumes to the LUCID Packaging Register depends on your system participation agreement.
The general rule is as follows: every packaging volume report you make to your system operator must be matched with a report to the LUCID Packaging Register without delay. The two reports must be identical in terms of volumes, material type and reporting period.
To report your data, sign in to the LUCID Packaging Register using your login credentials. Look for the 'data reporting' tile and click 'Submit data report'. Then look for the right material type and click 'start'.
