Recyclable – yes or no? Drawing on the work of an expert committee and in agreement with German Environment Agency, the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (Central Agency Packaging Register – ZSVR) has published a draft version of the 2023 edition of its minimum standard for recycling-friendly design. The minimum standard is an important tool for determining the recyclability of packaging.
The minimum standard for determining the recyclability of packaging has evolved every year since it was first published on 1 September 2019. The consultation draft published now is based on experiences gathered over the past few years and contains various amendments to the 2022 edition of the minimum standard to ensure that only packaging with proven recyclability is considered to be recyclable.
The consultation with stakeholders opened on 5 June 2023 and will run until 14 July 2023.
The draft version will be revised and amended based on the feedback gathered during the consultation process, with the final version of the 2023 edition of the minimum standard being published on 1 September 2023.
